Neds, would you mind awfully much going to see Mama? Today or tomorrow if you can manage it. She's sending me so many messages in the journals, I know she's working herself into a state again.

Remind her, please, that she mustn't under any circumstances send me an owl. (Don't say, 'unless you direct it to MLE' because she might forget.)

And, Ned, if anything were to happen to me, Orion's got the key for the chest in my room there at the carriage house. I've written letters for my parents and a few others, and my Will is there. Would you be certain those things are taken care of properly? I'd ask Orion, but he's been travelling so much recently, I'd just feel better if it were you taking care of it all.

I expect I won't be back in New London until it's all over. But that should be soon now!
