Surely it would be nicer to have owls from us than little notes hidden in here amongst all the tonterías of the ignorantes, no? But I will write this here, Abuelita, since you were so gracious about Honoria's silly gift to you. Does your new cover really tell you as soon as one of us has written?
You were gracious to me, as well, and so I'm writing to say gracias, Abuelita. Thank you so very much for the brooch. It will mean so much to wear it when I marry, and knowing that your Tía Ariadna and Tía Cenobia placed the charms on it for you before you married makes it all the more precious. Also, Abuelita, I don't know what to say to your offer that I should wear your wedding robes. They are so beautiful.
Thank you also--both of you--for making Ned feel welcomed. He is writing you himself, of course, but it did mean so much to him to receive the cup from you, Abueloberto. As you remind us each year, Twelfth Night's always been our family time, when we think of all the others, celebrating in Barcelona and Milan, who cannot be with us: it's a time when we feel connected to family near and far and remember what it means to be your children and children's children. I remember when Eduardo brought Catalina to Twelfth Night for the first time before they married and how important that was for them. It was like that for us this year.
Abuelita, I know that it's been very difficult for you, and it was so good to see you with roses in your cheeks again. I know you've been missing the others especially much these past months whilst you've been ill, and feeling triste that you might not see them again. Only, I do hope that maybe now with the Tri-Wizard tournament such a success, it might be possible for Octavio or Eugènio or some of the others to visit here. Perhaps even for my wedding if we were to be patient and wait for the permissions to be granted. There's no need to hurry, and I do believe that if you were to appeal through Mr Malfoy there's a chance it might be allowed. In time. I'm certain that Mr Pennifold would add his support. I would so like to see Ibbie again. Think how wonderful it would be if she could come and be in the wedding party!
We can discuss it when I come for supper on Thursday, I hope.
