I keep running through the possibilities for the next step on the brass piece. I feel silly for having been so triumphant when the first one practically deconstructed itself for me. And now I'm letting myself be frustrated when this one wants to play by other rules.

I'd say I'll sleep on it, but I don't think I will. Still, maybe inspiration will come in the middle of the night. I hope.

In the meantime, I have to find the right words to tell you how lovely the comb is and how much I'm looking forward to setting runes in those three perfectly luminous moonstones. Oh, Rod. It's really the most beautiful thing, and I can't wait to have you show me how to layer the spellwork for it. But, see, that's my problem right there: I can't focus on the issues with the brass piece because I keep thinking what I could do with the comb! So many possibilities. But. I promise I won't think about it any further until we've finished with all the artefacts for Craddock.

I'm not usually a flighty sort. I promise. It's just that this was so unexpected and so- No. Setting that aside for now.
