I've only just heard what happened to you yesterday. Of course, it's beastly that Orion's mistakes should have such a terrible cost for poor Martha. I know she must have been utterly beside herself to have done such a thing. I trust you were only in the wrong place at an unfortunate time and that you did not, as some have been saying, snicker rudely about her as she went by.
In any case, I trust that Madam Pomfrey was able to set things right in short order. And who knows? Perhaps your nose will look the better for it once it's healed.
The elves were able to take the stains out of your robes, I hope. It would be far better if you didn't write to Mama complaining about it, you know. And certainly, you oughtn't to bother Papa. In fact, it might be altogether best if you would let me know whether you need something ordered from Madam Malkins' to replace what's been spoiled. I'll take care of it for you.
And, of course, whatever you do, you mustn't let this business distract you from your studies. Perhaps it's just the impetus you've needed to find a quiet seat deep in the library where no one will be tempted to gawk at you and where you can really apply yourself to your work. That would be putting a positive face on a trying situation.
