They're just resolving now to the point where I can make out what I think are variants on two runes: raiðo and tiwaz. I think they've improvised changes to them, but I don't know what that signifies.

I'll stay until you're back--or really I could stay until we finish, if it looks to you as though that's likely to be tonight: I'm not in any rush to get home. Are you able to come have a look?

I also had anticipated we might run into raiðo, the traveler. Tiwaz is less welcome.

Are you familiar with its role in the Norse Edda? It is connected to the veneration of the god Týr. In Gylfaginning, Týr's bravery is exemplified by his willingness to have his hand chomped off by Fenrir in order to bind the wolf with the Gleipnir.

I suspect the improvisation you see is a result of blood magic. It's good that you're in no rush to get home. We may be in for a long night.
